1. Best Choice Products Bass Guitar

Best Choice Products Bass Guitar

Product Description:

Introducing the Sky Enterprise Model 427 Acoustic Electric Bass Guitar, a true gem for both beginners and seasoned musicians alike. Crafted with precision and passion, this instrument embodies quality and affordability, delivering an exceptional sound experience that exceeds expectations.

Upon unboxing, you’ll find meticulous attention to detail. The guitar, proudly made by Sky Enterprise, arrives in pristine condition, showcasing a flawless natural finish. Optional pickguard included providing customization for your playing style. While the absence of a hex wrench for the truss rod may seem minor, the guitar’s craftsmanship compensates for this oversight.

The physical allure is undeniable. This bass exudes elegance, featuring a stunning abalone rosette and a body crafted from high-quality spruce and mahogany. Though initially dry, the rosewood fretboard can easily be revitalized with a touch of Old English lemon oil, enhancing its appearance and playability.

Attention to detail extends to the subtle nuances, such as the faded “BC” logo on the headstock, adding character without overwhelming the instrument’s natural beauty. Plus, with strategically placed strap buttons, you can comfortably play standing or sitting, enhancing versatility.

When it comes to sound and playability, the Sky Enterprise Model 427 shines. Frets are impeccably dressed, ensuring smooth transitions and eliminating dead spots. Adjustments to the truss rod and saddle height are simple, allowing for personalized setup preferences. And don’t let comments about string volume deter you—with the EQ-7545R equalizer, fine-tuning your sound is effortless.

Whether you prefer the crisp brightness of light gauge strings or the warm resonance of nylon, this bass accommodates your musical journey. While the included strings suffice temporarily, upgrading to premium options ensures optimal performance.

3. JOYO 2.4GHz Wireless Bass Guitar

JOYO 2.4GHz Wireless Bass Guitar

Product Description:

What it is:

  • A good value-based wireless system for passive guitars. It is what it is.
  • The battery seems to last a long time, at least while new.
  • Manual option to change the channels (4) within the 2.4 GHz frequency.
  • The range is okay and very easy to use.
  • Straight forward plug-and-play.
  • It fits in most guitars and even a Strat-style jack, but it ain’t pretty on guitars with a jack on the front and the blue lights stay on.

What it is not:

  • These are not high-end and will rob the tone of your signal, especially at 20-30′ when high-end effects pedals are turned on. Those saying they can’t tell a difference may not be compared to high-end wireless systems or good cables. There is a difference.
  • They do not automatically channel switch (which is not good if you are playing live).
  • It only runs on the busiest frequency and while that’s true with many wireless systems, these cannot automatically channel switch should interference arise.
  • Can get interference from others running wireless mics, in ears, wireless guitars, and wireless sound equipment not to mention it can get an interface from microwaves (if you play restaurants/coffee houses), baby monitors, security cameras, and garage door openers.
  • These are nowhere near a $400 Shure or Sennheiser system but it is not meant to be at this price.

Overall:
Nice value. If you are just using this at home or just to jam with friends, these are well worth the price! It is comparable to what was considered “high-end” many years ago and has a much higher price.

4. Glarry Electric Bass Guitar

Glarry Electric Bass Guitar

Product Description:

I ordered the bass late on February 29, and it is not Prime, so shipping was listed as free, but not 2 days. I was told I’d receive it “between Mar. 5 and mar. 12.” I received it March 1! Wow. Great shipping.

The bass came packed in a cardboard box with styrofoam reinforcements and arrived in perfect shape. It came with a cheap cable and the Allen wrenches needed for the truss rod and saddle adjustments. The body is a very pretty off-white and the paint is perfect. The bass’s body is basswood and feels a bit light but the sustain is good and I’ll probably be thankful for the lightness. It does make it a bit neck-heavy though.

The bolt-on neck could have used additional buffing for smoothness but is certainly no problem to play. Hey, it was less than $65.00. The rosewood fretboard is nice (a little lemon oil brings out the grain) and the frets are smooth with no sharp edges. Nowhere on the outside of the bass is there a serial number or even a country of origin, and there is no brand at all on the Fender copy head, which I prefer to some hokey off-brand label. I will probably stain the head to give it some color. The tuning machines look substantial and work smoothly. We will see how they last.

The pickguard was protected with plastic film which was a pain to remove around the pots. The pots themselves are smooth to operate, with great gradual change of volume and tone, and work quietly (we will see how they last) and the knobs look good but feel a bit light, with less “meat” than a real Fender.

The setup was OK. I’ll need to do a little work with the truss rod and saddles to get it perfect, but it’s certainly useable right out of the box. Plugged it in and started to play.

The volume is slightly lower than my Washburn at any given amp setting, and the fact that there is only one set of pickups means it’s less versatile. That being said, the tone is great. Even set on treble so there is more slap and picking sound, the bottom end is good and strong. It will cut through a mix just fine and, hey, $63.95.

Make no mistake. This is a beginner’s bass. That being said, it is a very good one, and one I’d not feel bad about taking as an emergency fall-back bass on a gig, or to a place where damage was possible. Highly recommend.

5. Squier by Fender Mini Precision

Squier by Fender Mini Precision

Product Description:

I injured my left hand, making it impossible to play long-scale basses anymore, so I started looking around for short-scale instruments. Along with bass ukuleles and mini acoustics, I saw the Fender mini and decided to give it a shot. Since I’ve been playing Fenders all my life it seemed like a no-brainer. I saw the reviews that said they needed lots of setup and adjustments, so I was prepared for that. Maybe the techs at Fender read the reviews too, because mine was dead on perfect right out of the box. Intonation, neck, string height, and pickups, are all perfect.

And I love the satin neck instead of the sticky gloss finish that Fender sometimes uses. I agree the strings are not the best, and that is my only quibble. I’ve owned a lot of basses over the years, but I think I take the most satisfaction from this one because it lets me play real bass again. And for anyone who cares, it has a nice “cool factor”. This is a great deal all around.
