This vacuum has worked really well in our house of 7 people and 1 dog. It has really good suction power and picks up all the dirt and dust I have run it over. It does take a few passes if something is a little bit bigger in size and at times I have had to lift the front end a bit to get the “bigger” item to go into the suction area. I am going to put a Pros and Cons list below with a brief explanation of each one.

I have been looking for about a year for another vacuum cleaner. I have a very nice Hoover Windtunnel upright and it does a great job, but I bought it when I had carpeting throughout the house. Since hardwood floors arrived and I only have one bedroom with carpet (which keeps the noise down) it is not as enjoyable to vacuum the entire house with a larger and heavier vacuum.

So my search finally decided on the Eureka NEN110A Whirlwind Bagless Canister Vacuum Cleaner and I am glad I did. It arrived yesterday after ordering it only on Friday, thanks Amazon. Needless to say, I had to take it for a spin. Here is what I can report for the newly arrived.

1. It is pretty. Yes, pretty; I don’t like ugly appliances. All the bells and whistles are great, but if the unit is ugly, then I don’t want it. Do you know what I am talking about, you have seen other vacuum cleaners that look like they jumped out of a 1950 sci-fi movie. Hello, the commercial vacuum that is short, round, and has eyes painted on it, or the Shark Apex or the Shark DuoClean Powered Lift-Away Speed Vacuum that looks like a tower that could easily fall over, or almost all Oreck. Oh yes, I know this may step on a toe or toe, but sometimes the truth is ugly and hey, this is my review.
But this unit is good-looking, racey, futuristic even, and I love the color blue they made it in.

2. Power – plenty of suction power. I had to adjust back the vacuum power using the handy built-in suction adjustment on the hand. No problem with suction power.

3. Ease of use – this is where it shines. It is around 8 pounds so it is quick and easy to maneuver all over the house. Easy to get down under furniture as the head swivels around, turning and twisting your floors clean. The dust cup is small, but so is the vacuum cleaner, it is easy to pop out and dump, snap closed and you’re ready to go. I hate when people whine about having to empty the canister so often, seriously, why do you want to leave all that dirt in the vacuum for days? It even easily rolls over its power cord. My Kenmore canister that weighed over 20 pounds couldn’t even roll over its cord, it would get stuck and I would have to lift it.

4. The built-in wand brush and crevice tool worked well also. The wand and the handles plug securely into each other and the vacuum with a nice little snap. Easy to undo also. The auto-rewind on the unit is great too, a nice feature at this price point. The power cord is 16 feet, but if it was possible to have another five feet would be awesome, I am not complaining, I just unplug and move to another area and plug into a different outlet that is closer to the work area, after all our houses come with multiple outlets.

5. Lifespan, this is always the unknown, but the unit has a one-year manufacturer warranty and I purchased 3 more years under the Assurance plan. So I feel I am covered. Time will tell and I’ll update these comments if something goes wrong and also if the unit keeps working just fine.

4. BISSELL Zing CitrusCan Vac

Description:

I ordered this vac based on the reviews from Amazon and will be put to use at the cabin ‘up north’ which mainly has wood floors, a few rugs, and small carpeted areas. I did a quick test around the house to give the vacuum a proper shakedown Assembly was a breeze (who looks at the manual anyways?) and it took a total of 5 minutes from opening the box to plugging in the power cord for some serious dust bunny busting.

This little vac sucks up the floor. I cleaned 4 rooms in a matter of minutes compared to using a Swiffer-type floor duster thingy which I normally use, then sucking up the piles with the hose attachment from the upright vacuum, which is a pain and not an efficient use of time. I giggled like a little girl cleaning the linoleum bathroom floor of all the Chewbacca dander the wife and daughter left behind after a 2-hour session of styling and blow-drying. Seriously, the amount of hair that falls off their heads every day could choke a billy goat. So I was happy that the little purple vac cleared the floor in no time.

Next was to tackle the lint and dust on the hardwood floors under the beds. Piece of cake. I think I heard the little purple vac mutter, “Is that all you got?” Fine then, let’s hit the dining room and get rid of all the crumbs, dust, and whatever the dog dragged in that I somehow managed to miss when I supposedly cleaned the other day. No problem. Next was the living room where it still baffles me how much scuzz manages to accumulate under the sofa and chairs. Debris sucked up in seconds. And the little purple vac did a fairly decent job picking up rawhide bone bits that the dog left behind on the area rug. I even vacuumed the walls where dust had built up due to the constantly running ceiling fan on the upper landing.

I’m pretty impressed with this vacuum. It’s light, not too noisy (about the same as all the other upright vacs I’ve owned), and does a nice job cleaning hard surfaces. I personally probably would not count on this vacuum to do regular carpet cleaning duties, but for quick crumb cleanups, it’ll do just fine. You need a rotating brush and a beater bar for carpets. Plus a steam cleaner/ extractor if you have pets. Don’t ask…I also found the cord rewinder worked well.

If I can find one fault it’s not with the vacuum itself but the attachments- where’s the dust brush? No big deal for me as I have a few that I kept when the other previous vacuums I’ve owned ‘bit the dust’. Yes, pun intended. Not everyone is going to have a drawer full of leftover attachments. I do like that Bissell included 3 spare dirtbags in the box.

Description:

I absolutely love this thing. It easily fits under two bookcases, two chairs, two low dog beds, and a China cabinet. Great suction, enough to pick up dirt, dust, and dog hair. It has felt padding to prevent scratching wood floors. It is super extendable and way longer than I would ever need. I used to use a Swiffer duster to get all the dirt and hair out from under the bookcases and cabinets or try to shove the vacuum hose underneath which scratched my floor…one swipe of this tool and everything is clean. This is going to save me a ton of worry and hard work since now I don’t have to move my chairs or pick up the dog beds. I am so happy I bought this.
One thing, not all six holes on the bottom have suction. It seems like only the four closest to the vacuum suck.
But it still works great and is worth every penny I spent.
